So, I've made up a decision. I've opened a Tumblr account and you guys can find my rants at pascat.tumblr.com I find its a friendly platform for writing however I like. As far as I know anyways! I've enabled comments and such, so don't hesitate to follow me on there and leave your two cents about my coming rants!

So, coming next is a little project. That 'Rant' earlier was fun to do. though, I don't feel DeviantART is the best place to do them, so anyone knows a place that would be more proper to centralize everything rant-related? Leave your suggestions in comments!

Also, I want to keep going! But coming up with nice/proper ideas is troublesome. I'd like you folks to throw suggestions so I may keep going! Suggestions for topics I should read about and study so I can write an article about. It is going to be a good exercise for my brain, and will allow me to learn about numerous subjects! So, you have anything you'd like to see? Leave suggestions down below! If its not something outright ridiculous (Well, maybe) if its something that would be fun ranting (Now definitely) speak of it down below! Who will be the winner of the next time? :D

So, anyone's got consoles? There are three mainstream ones now, anyone else pretty much died when they couldn't follow the pressure. Now, are they still necessary? It used to be that Consoles was the only way for proper gaming. They were specialized hardware that all they could do is give us Video Games and so, the games were made -for- them.

However, there is a trend now that Personal Computers are more powerful then consoles a year before the console's Launch Date. The Play Station 4 is happening, and it would seem the hardware is just about as strong as Base Line computer you buy from Dell, for the same price. Don't get me wrong here. I do know that the software within the PlayStation 4 is specialized for handling the Video Games, but, the fact that the hardware is weaker then most computer should be enough to prove that consoles are no longer necessary. If a certain hardware can run all games that get on PS4, then superior hardware should be able to run them just as well when compiled natively (Ported).

Now, we move on to the price. Its the same price as a base line computer. It tries to emulate being a computer (Social Networks, game markets, online gadgets, Youtube...) and yet they offer a dumb interface that is quite inferior (in my view) to that of a computer. (No, this debate is not about Windows 8, so I don't want to hear about it) you can't install productivity software. Forget about modding video games (Modding Bethesda titles is so much fun!), doing anything on the internet with that funky controller is awkward at best...

Now, we move on to the old argument: PC Gaming is evolving too fast!
Not really, not anymore. Evolution of Hardware has reached a point where it has slowed somewhat and is no longer as significant as it used to be. Latest processor is faster then the previous generation, but it is no longer a 300% increase. A -same value- increase now would be about what, 10% faster? We are also reaching a point where Memory is not really an issue anymore. (Laptops come with 4GB, which is more then necessary for the majority of games) and even Intel Integrated Graphics is starting to have decent acceleration. Oh, sure, you might have to run the games on lowest settings, but they would still run! As long as your computer is not dating back to last decade, you should be able to run quite a few of the games out there now.
"I want to play games on my TV!" Yeah, not really valid anymore. The majority of half-decent video cards now come with an HDMI port, which is what you will use for your next-gen consoles. As for controllers, there are tons and tons of models and builds of game controllers designed for PC, as well as the possibility to make use of your console one if you miss it to so much. So why the hell is Console Gaming receiving still so much importance when the prior issues of PC Gaming have become so much less?
Consoles have also began on a trend of Downloadable Games. That means, we may very well see consoles giving up on external medias and making people buy their games online. When they reach that point, maybe then people will start realizing they are no longer consoles but just inferior Personal Computers?

Now though, Portable Consoles (3DS, PSP, and the likes) are still justified to me. They bring your gaming to something that fits in your pocket (Or a at least a Hip Pouch) so that you can bring your gaming everywhere. However, when it comes to home-bound gaming? I don't believe Consoles have much of a place anymore.

Conclusion? If you are going to invest in a freaking console that is even more expensive then a computer, why don't you instead throw that money into buying a slightly better computer so that you can work and play on the same machine?

Edit: P.S. Mainstream companies are making sure to keep their games specifically on Consoles so that to force people to buy them. It is them saying 'If you want to play this, you have to buy that'. For those companies that do make ports, they add those annoying Online-Only DRMs (Ubisoft Launcher, Origin) so that people actively give up on those games. Personally, as I have given up on Consoles, I have given up on those companies as a whole. I'm not missing out on much...

New Setback

I lost everything. Forum deletion to a hacker means I have to start over my work of Celcors... Now, though, I'm keeping a backup on my harddrive for sure >.<

Anyway, I'm giving up on Loopy's Dstory system, and will continue on with the work of my own system. Its annoying though, how the lack of a game system is stopping me from making the game happen. Everything of the story is written. Every races' backgrounds and (The exaggerated version of the Bane...)

Now, I'd be looking for someone to draw some of the artwork for the game... I don't have much money to put over this, but I am willing to spend a little. If you know someone who does futurist, Cyberpunk type of drawings, and is interested in taking part of a growing world, I am gonna listen to offers!

Meanwhile, I will be continuing to redevelop the system (I found some flaws anyways, I am going to fix)

I may enable a multiple-action stack system where... Depending on stats, people get up to 3 Mental and Physical actions. Both types can be used to their full, in Defense or Offense. (So you have to decide on your stance... More toward defense, or more toward kicking butts? each round, adding a new strategic level)

IF you have no defense actions left, however, you do not get any benefits of skills or powers for defense. Its your raw Willpower/Agility statistics.
Each Attack Actions occur at -5 on the initiative check after the first. Some abilities like an Aimed shot may have a greater delay. If your initiative ever drops to 0, you lose your remaining actions. Stun does not make one lose his turn, but it may make one lose actions. A weak stun can delay the next action by 5 and up to 15... Depending on the strength of the stun. So you may end up losing the rest of your turn to seeing stars!

This is the biggest new achievement to my game system, a multiple-action system with timed initiative.

I've described part of the world in an earlier post. If anyone is interested to have more details about the species (Bane and Karnac, Shifters (Karnac/Human hybrid), and the different human types (Sleepers, Psychics, Cyborgs and Celcors) you are free to PM me for more info! It is to note that, if you do drawings for my system, your art will be placed onto the forum. I will offer links to your da pages however! :D

I now have more time to actively design, so I will be posting more often about the progress of the Project.

Almost there!

Whoo! I'm almost there, done, and over with it!

My game, Celcors, is almost complete with the development.
Since I was allowed to (and chose to) use Loopy's dstory© system, I did not have to design and balance a whole system; all that remained to do was to balance the Breeds themselves.

Anyway, with the system down pat, I am working on coding the Bot, since to make it playable over internet requires several tools that would make life MUCH easier.

I expect, everything goes right, that the Bot will be ready by next week, and then I can finally get to the Launching Point.

Little bit of History Info

14 years ago, back when I was 12, I and a friend (Well, we used to be friends, he turned into drugs and alcohol and kind of parted ways after that) designed a Game. The primary race was known as Celcors or Cellules Corporelles. They are, in basics, Nanorobot Engineers that the user can control. Over the years, I worked to develop the story; from Camitra the Cougar Liberator, to the prototype Darkstar the Science Goddess.
Much of the story has been developped through Roleplaying the characters.

This is great news, as I maybe able to finally get to let people know about the story I took 12 years to build, develop...

The Story is about Humans.
How Humans feel about losing their home
How Humans feel about losing Humanity.
How far are Humans willing to go to get back what they lost?

But then again, the playable races are not exactly humans anymore.

Celcors, halfway between alive and machine, the majority of their body cells were replaced with tiny little machines; for the most of them, the only real part remaining is their brain.
Cyborgs, they still have some of their original body's organs, but many parts were replaced with robotics and enhancements of all sorts.
Shifters, hybridization of Humans with a pacific Shape shifting alien race. Shifters inherited of both the Karnac's body control capacities, and human sentience, making the first weapon usable against the Bane.
Psychics, the last of the Breeds, and the one that is still the most human. Psychics are unaltered, for the most part. Their Minds enhanced through methods known only to the most brilliant scientists, they need a perfect body for their mojo to work. Any implants or corruption cripples them greatly. And we still have to admit: They are still human and are quite fragile.

What's the goal of the game? Bring fun to the players, while telling my story I has been working on for years. The Story is mostly one of a post appocalyptic events. The Bane attacked. In two waves. The first one, they sent slaves called Karnacs. Humans convinced the Karnacs to stop the fighting, and so began the preparations for the first wave of the Bane. They came themselves after finding the Karnacs betrayed them. On their great ships; they came in numbers and technology far surpassing that of Earth's.

Humans won. But they had to sacrifice everything for it. In the few years they had left to prepare, the killed the environment, and when came the battle, they launched everything nuclear they could; earth's surface is barren, the first Bane incursion fleet wiped.

This gave humans time. Time to prepare and leave their home behind. The world is irradiated, agonizing... Those that stayed behind had no future.

Humans salvaged what they could from the Bane technologies. Propulsion systems, Nanotechnology (which became the base for the Celcors) very complex alloys, allowing the creation of Colony Ships.

The first colonies were sent on the moons surrounding Jupiter. These became research outposts; communications were kept to a strict minimum, trying to remain hidden from the Bane as they prepare.
Several hundred years passed; the colony ships were transformed into Biodomes onto moons, and small surrounding planets. Self sufficient, Dr. Jean-Marie Boucher (the English Speaking people called him Human Butcher, because of what he did) used a Human technology, a form of crystal that could generate a lot of power, and managed to retrofit into the nanobots used by the Bane. Some reprogramming made and the first human (illegal) tests were made. The chosen subject was military, she was undergoing Martial Court procedures for disobeying orders. Nothing went right however. The nanobots connected to her mind, and began changing every bits of her body. They were however, overloading her with so much information no conscious mind could have remained sane.
Megalomania took over, and she had herself renamed The Dark Star not before creating a small black hole that swallowed the moon onto which the colony was built. A single Bane Ship came to see what was going on. She overpowered the ship, and took control of it. This ship would be transformed to follow her will, and renamed Morningstar.
The game begins several hundred years after those events; Human colonies have regrouped their domes attached together by complex arrays of tunnels and wires to ships; two of the original colony ships (Espoir Class, Espoir and Eden) and a Bane Battlecruiser that was captured, Kish-Ka Class renamed Hercules after its capture.
Attached to those three ships are the 4 domes; each their own little town with their own little grudges over one another, but no infighting has ever grown violent enough to cause damage. The domes each bear a name of an important city on earth.
Paris, Tokyo, New-York, Moscow; nobody knows where the names are from anymore however.
